    “By 2020, globally we will be well over 25 zeta-bytes of data world wide“…

    We are now way beyond terabytes (TB) and petabytes (PB), well into zeta-bytes (or “zettabytes”; ZB) of data. But what does this new frontier mean to all of us?

    A zeta-byte is hard to envision but if a petabyte (also hard to envision) is the equivalent of “20 million 4-door filing cabinets full of text” then a zeta-byte is 20 TRILLION of these 4 -door filing cabinets! (there’s an “exabyte level” in there somewhere.)
